Frequently Asked Questions
Is the deposit amount included in the total price? Yes, the deposit amount is included in the final price. Once you make the initial nonrefundable deposit, you will receive a payment schedule for the remaining balance.
Are flights included? Flight is not included in the prices, but we will recommend a flight itinerary and group flight options, when available.
Can I book my flight separate from the group? No. our flights are booked as a group to make sure everyone is together for ground transportation and other international travel activities. Flights booked will include the flight from one US city to our destination and back.
Can I get a refund?
The deposit is non-refundable. In the event you are unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances, we highly recommend travel insurance to cover any cost associated with a canceled trip. We do not sell insurance, but we recommend Allianz Travel Insurance: https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/
How will I get to the hotel? Ground transportation will be scheduled for the group to/from the airport and throughout your stay for planned events to all of our destinations.
Is it cheaper if to bring a friend? We encourage you to invite all of your friends on any of our adventures, but all prices are set for double occupancy.
Can I pick my roommate? Yes! We encourage you to book with a roommate in mind, but it is not mandatory. All trips are booked based on double occupancy unless noted, and roommates will be assigned if you are a solo traveler. You will have an opportunity to get to know your roommate (if assigned) over the next year.
What is the maximum number of travelers in #TheCrew? 25 (excluding the Chief Experience Officer) is the maximum we allow on each adventure (case by case) to maintain the intimate experience. (see also: Exclusive travel group) Book Fast!
Will there be a waiting list? Yes, there will be a waiting list once we reach capacity. Travelers on the waiting list will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the group has reached capacity, you can request to be added to the waiting list by emailing: hello@theglobalintent.com.
What currency do I need? Currency for each adventure will be provided in the Travel package – we recommend exchanging your currency before you depart but there will be an opportunity upon arrival.
Are all meals included? Yes, Breakfast is included every day. Lunch and Dinner are on your own, with the exception of a group dinner as indicated on the detailed itinerary.
How much spending money should I bring? Breakfast is included every day and there will be two planned group dinners. You will need money for any additional meals, souvenirs, and any other activities you plan on your own.
What should I pack? We recommend lightweight clothing, shorts, long sleeves, swimwear, DEET mosquito repellent, rain poncho, and comfortable shoes.
Is there an age limit? Although The Global Intent targets Young Black Professionals (ages 25-40), all travelers 21 and over are welcome!
Do I need to get shots or vaccinations? Vaccinations requirements will vary based on the destination. You should be up to date on routine vaccinations while traveling to any destination. Some vaccines may also be required for travel. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/
Do I need a visa? Visa requirements vary by destination.
Should we get additional medical coverage? We encourage you to purchase travel insurance. Your travel insurance should also include emergency medical coverage and existing medical condition coverage.
Are we volunteering for the whole trip? The Global Intent is a voluntourism travel group, but our goal is to expose travelers to a unique, localized experience. The service projects will last no longer than1 day of any trip as there are many other culturally immersed activities that we want The Crew to experience. There will be plenty of free time and opportunity to explore.
Where are we volunteering? What if I’m not interested in the project? The service project will be outlined on the itinerary. We can only hope that any traveler with The Global Intent has a desire to serve while traveling abroad. The foundation of The Global Intent is voluntourism, or an integrated combination of intentional tourism, the genuine impulse to help, and wanderlust to experience cultures abroad.
Will wifi be available? Wifi will be available in our hotels, but due to the location service may be limited at times.
Can I charge my phone with their outlets? Power socket types vary by destination. More details will be provided in the confirmed traveler packet.
